Who wants to live on the Côte d'Azur? If not every single body, then at least quite a few people do, including some very famous names.
To name just a few:
Elton John has a villa on Mont Boron, in Nice, situated just east of the Promenade des Anglais, and just east of the harbour, providing sweeping vistas on the Mediterranean Sea and Nice.
U2 front-man Bono has a house in Eze-Bord-de-Mer. It's called "Villa des Roses", and situated directly on the sea-front.
Tina Turner's former French residence is in Villefranche-sur-Mer. She apparently got rid of the property in 2013.
In 2011 Tina received honorary citizenship status in Villefranche.
In the area near St. Paul-de-Vence, Vence and Colle-sur-Loup:
Singer Rod Stewart has a property near the historic village of St. Paul de Vence.
Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher used to live near Colle-sur-Loup.
Rolling Stones guitarist Bill Wyman used to live near Vence.
Angelina Jolie and husband Brad Pitt live in Correns, the Var department. They bought the famous castle Chateau Miraval, including the vineyards that belong to it, in 2008.
Pink Floyd recorded an album in the castle, back in 1979, and now one the famous rosé wines produced by the chateau is called Pink Floyd.
Monaco has a high concentration of famous people: Jay Z, Shirley Bassey, Ringo Starr, Claudia Schiffer, Roger Moore, to name but a few...
The list goes on and on really....
Apart from famous artists and sports celebrities who want a second or third home in this region, wealthy business people and royals alike have also fallen for the charms of the many luxurious and sumptious villas that can be found on the Côte d'Azur.
In many cases they have spent a lot of money on the interior decoration as well as on the gardens.
Some of these houses and their gardens are open to the public.
Villa Rothschild in St.-Jean Cap Ferrat, for example, is a beautiful villa with extensive gardens.
