France is a country that loves cycling. That is to say, this love consists mostly of watching other people race their bikes.
There are however also large numbers of people who regularly cycle themselves, and the French Riviera offers some beautiful albeit challenging tracks.
A word of caution: there are very few dedicated cycling lanes, and you will have to contend for space with other traffic. But once you leave the busy coastal area, traffic will be much less dense, allowing you more space to enjoy your ride.
