The Gordolasque river in the heart of the Mercantour National Park runs through a scenic valley; at the begining of the walk is a flat terrain, popular with families for a dip into the mountain river, and for a scenic picknick. About 45 minute drive from Nice; from Belvédère, follow the road into the Gordolasque valley. After some 12km, the road ends near a beautiful lake, surrounded by green meadows. Perfect for a swim on a hot summer's day! The walk through the valley ultimately ends in the Vallée des Merveilles, where thousands of pre-historic engravings can be admired in the rocks and rockwalls.
