Life on the French Riviera

an insider's account

Welcome to the French Riviera!

The French Riviera, also known as the Côte d Azur, is one of the most beautiful regions in Europe and ranks among the most popular tourist destinations on the planet.
Tourists travel here from all corners of the globe; business people, artists and retirees settle here to enjoy a superior quality of life.
My name is Andrew; I moved to the Côte d'Azur back in 1995 and I am still amazed by its beauty - these pages are my personal account of life on the French Riviera!

Picture Gallery

Plenty of inspiration for the photographer: beaches, hillls, vineyards, near 1000 yeard old villages perched on rock cliffs, the beautiful old city centres of Nice, Menton and Monaco...all drenched in sunshine (but also beautiful on the occasional rainy day), the blue skies contrasting with the snow covered peaks of the Alps...

Outdoors

There are many outdoors activities to be done to enjoy the region to the fullest: sun-bathing and swimming in the sea to start with, of course, but also ski-ing, hiking, canyoning (canyoneering), sailing, fishing, biking...there will almost certainly be something of your liking...

Villages

Some of the villages on the French Riviera have succumbed to the pressure of tourism and look more like open-air museums or fair grounds rather than authentic Provençal villages.
However, there still are many beautiful authentic villages on the Côte d'Azur.

Towns and Cities

Take a look at some of the oldest and pretties towns and city centres of the French Riviera; admire the architecture, visit a museum and have your lunch on the beach!

Living in the South of France

Living in the south of France is a dream for many northern Europeans, and for people from all over the world. There are many areas in France that appeal to foreigners, and deservedly so, but the French Riviera has a special appeal.

Beyond the French Riviera

The French Riviera lies at the heart of much wider area, rich in history, culture and natural beauty: Corsica, the Provence, the Alps..
